’Sparks of Genius –
Breaking Records, Pushing Boundaries’

The Chichester Education Business Partnership has been very lucky again this year to be offered the opportunity to work with the team at the Festival of Speed who are hosting a special event to support students studying Motor Mechanics, Technology and Engineering.

The focus for the Festival of Speed this year is ’Sparks of Genius - breaking records, pushing boundaries’ which fits well with trying to enthuse youngsters to think about a career in the industry

The special event, held at Goodwood House is being run with a view to giving theses very lucky students an insight into the range of jobs in the industry and the skills needed for them. Peter Stevens a professor with the RCA has arranged for guest speakers to include:

David Jones – Engineering the car
David Godber – Design modelmaker
Alan Sawyer – making the beautiful bits!
David Newall – Maintaining the car
Neil Twyman – Restoring the car

This year there is going to be a new Technology Pavilion, which will have the latest developments from a range of car and fuel manufacturers. It will also house a group of students from the car design course of the RCA who will be continuing/demonstrating a project to ’design a sports car for your dad’! They will be drawing, using CAD and 3D modeling on a big screen, have some scale modeling in clay taking place, and a video of the design process on continuous loop.
